Through the last few years we have been taught that eating fat will make us fat. Now that would be true of trans fats and hydrogenated fats. Believe it or not though there are fats that you can eat that will help you lose weight.
Almonds are a fat, remember almond oil. However, snacking on almonds will help you lose inches. I prefer sliced almonds on my cereal but whole almonds do make a great snack.
Coconut oil is one of my favorite nutrients. It has been proven to stop Alzheimer and helps with other diseases and now it has been found to help you lose weight. It also tastes good. I cook my eggs with it and I also eat it solid. I slip it into smoothies also. Coconut oil boosts metabolism by resetting the thyroid gland.
Flax seeds and flax seed oil. I love flax seeds. I put them with sesame seeds and sunflower seeds on my oatmeal. Do not cook with flax seed oil, it’s too delicate for that. But the magic of flax is that they attract oil-soluble toxins in your body and show them the way out.
Olives and olive oil The job for olives and olive oil is to distribute it’s healthy fat and make you feel so that you don’t crave junk food. It keeps you feeling full and cuts hunger. It also reduces high blood pressure.
Now on to one of my top favorites. Walnuts. I used to eat cookies simply for the walnuts in them. Make sure that they are raw. Walnuts have fat burning acids, also omega 3 fatty acids. Research shows that if you eat walnuts and lose weight, the weight will stay off. Keep walnuts in the refrigerator to keep them from going rancid.
There are many ways of eating these great fats and working them into your diet. Nuts, either almond or walnut, are great on a salad. Flax seeds can blend into smoothies.
Contrary to popular belief, eating these healthy fats will lower the risk of heart attack and lower cholesterol. And they are safer and taste better than pills.
